Université de Lorraine was founded on January 1, 2012, through the merger of four institutions in the Lorraine region of northeastern France, with campuses in Nancy, Metz, Epinal, and other cities. The university enrolls 62,000 students and ranks first in France for graduate engineers, with particular strengths in materials science, engineering, geosciences, renewable energy, and digital security. It is a leading institution for Erasmus student mobility and offers programs across all academic fields from undergraduate to doctoral level.
