Founded in 1220, the University of Montpellier is one of the oldest universities in the world, located in Montpellier, in the Hérault region of southern France. The university is a research-intensive institution with 17 faculties, schools, and institutes offering over 600 programs across diverse fields. It has particular academic strengths in agriculture, biotechnology, biological sciences, environmental sciences, earth and marine sciences, and health sciences.
